Enable a skill

Turn on an optional skill so Trove sessions follow extra instructions

Enable a skill

A skill is an optional prompt that adds standing instructions to a Trove session. The app ships one skill, skill.ste-writing, which makes a session write clear technical English instead of "AI slop". Skills are off by default. You turn them on per project.

What a skill does

When you enable a skill for a project, the app appends the skill's text to the CLAUDE.md file of every new worktree that project creates. The session reads CLAUDE.md as its standing instructions, so the skill shapes how it works. Existing worktrees keep their current CLAUDE.md until the project creates a new one.

Turn a skill on

  1. Open the Trove board for your project.
  2. Open the Settings tab.
  3. Find the Skills (this project) group.
  4. Select the checkbox for the skill you want.

The change saves at once. The next worktree the project provisions includes the skill.

Turn a skill off

Clear the checkbox. New worktrees stop including the skill.

Edit or add a skill

Skills are prompts. You edit them in the prompt manager (settings window → LLM prompts → Prompt manager), the same way you edit any other prompt. Skills use keys that start with skill.. See Edit a prompt.
