opal
The OPAL task system: tasks, plans, the runtime, and the call that runs a function on the GUI thread.
Detailed description
OpalTaskRuntime runs tasks on background threads. Anything that touches a QWidget, even only to read its state, must run on the GUI thread. opal::guiCall() does that in one line, and calls the function at once when it is already on the GUI thread:
auto value = opal::guiCall([&]{ return widget->volume(); });
opal::guiCall([&]{ widget->setVolume(0.5f); });
