spec.workunit.claim / renew / release — the lease (§API-4).

A lease rather than a lock: an expired claim is free for the taking, so a session that died mid-unit costs the next taker a wait instead of a manual unlock. Confirmation is Always — i.e. allowed without prompting — because an autonomous session claims and renews constantly and a prompt would stop the engine dead.
