OpalStepProgress

How far a running plan step has got, when the step can say (opal-web-reference §OWRU-5).

Inherits QWidget

In the namespace octomy::opal::ui. Declared in src/libs/libopal/opal/ui/OpalStepProgress.hpp.

Detailed description

Every step shows its elapsed time on the busy row, and the scanner says it is alive. That is all an unbounded step can honestly show. A step that reports progress, such as web.fetch against its timeout, can show a fraction, and a fraction is a better answer than a spinner.

  • A negative fraction: the step cannot say how far it is yet, such as while it connects. The bar runs in its busy mode, range 0 to 0.
  • A fraction in [0, 1]: a real range, filled to the fraction.

⚠ The bar must track the thing it names. The detail line beside it says what the fraction measures, so a fraction of the timeout reads as the timeout and never as the transfer. The step chooses the words.

A QLabel and a QProgressBar in its two documented modes (https://doc.qt.io/qt-6/qprogressbar.html#details). Nothing is painted here. Hidden until a step reports, and hidden again by clear().
