The topology defects of a mesh, counted: what a processor that restores its input on a regression compares (construct-mesh-quality spec A5).

Detailed description

The guards of IsotropicRemesh, QuadricSimplification and CoplanarMerge compared three booleans until 2026-10-15: closed, manifold and orientable. A mesh with one defect on the way in could then get any number more on the way out, and two of the three booleans checked nothing (HalfedgeMesh::isOrientable and isManifold, §IM-12). A count that rises is a regression; a count that stays or falls is not, so a processor is never undone for a defect its input already had.
