BusyScrim

A translucent scrim with a spinner and a line of text, over the whole of its parent: the parent is unavailable while it shows.

Detailed description

The content under it stays visible, dimmed, and the scrim takes every mouse and key event, so nothing under it can be touched. It follows the size of its parent. libactivity's BusyOverlay is the opaque full-screen form, for a transition between activities.

The definition editor shows one while it opens a definition (owner, 2026-10-17): the editor had looked dead while the load took the GUI thread.
