Detailed description

BanterDiscovery handles acoustic discovery of nearby nodes using the Banter OFDM+CDMA protocol. It is the acoustic equivalent of LANDiscovery.

The discovery flow is:

  • Periodically broadcast BANTER_ANNOUNCE beacons on this node's Gold code
  • When a new peer's beacon is heard, send BANTER_IDENTITY_REQ (this node's identity, fragmented if needed)
  • Peer responds with BANTER_IDENTITY_RESP (their identity)
  • Both nodes have each other's public keys after exchange
  • DiscoveryClient stores keys and creates Associates
