Debugger Panel
The debugger panel provides real-time inspection of node state during development and testing.
Opening the Debugger
Right-click the main menu button (hamburger icon, top-right of the navigation bar) and pick Debugger from the context menu. The entry is checkable — its check mark mirrors whether the debugger dock is currently visible. (Pre-makeover the debugger had its own bug-icon button in the header; it moved into the menu's right-click context menu as part of the Activity Header Makeover so the header reserves its always-visible slots for identity and AI status.)
Docking Modes
The debugger supports two modes:
Floating Mode (Default)
- Independent window that can be positioned anywhere
- Has a 2px border for visual clarity
- Can be maximized using the maximize button or double-clicking the title bar
- Drag the title bar to move the window
Docked Mode
- Click the tuck button to dock the panel to the right side of the main window
- Darker background distinguishes it from the main content
- Takes up space within the main window frame
- Useful when you want debugger always visible alongside main UI
Title Bar Controls
| Button | Function |
|---|---|
| Expand/Collapse | Toggle all debug sections open or closed |
| Tuck | Toggle between docked and floating mode |
| Maximize | (Floating only) Maximize or restore window size |
Debug Sections
Click any section button to expand/collapse that section:
- Main - Core node status
- Identity - Node identity and birth certificate
- Comms Channel - Active communication channels
- Comms Carrier - UDP carrier status
- Services - Service level manager state
- Key Store - Cryptographic key status
- Local Addresses - Network interface addresses
- Pairing - Peer pairing status
- Local Identity - Identity verification
- Discovery Client - LAN discovery status
Scrollable Content
When many sections are expanded, the content becomes scrollable. The title bar remains fixed at the top for easy access to controls.
Tips
- Use Expand All to quickly see everything, then collapse individual sections you don't need
- In docked mode, the debugger shares screen space with the main window - useful for side-by-side monitoring
- Double-click the title bar in floating mode to quickly maximize for detailed inspection
