A structural edit sends a whole ConstructSnapshot, and the worker builds a new scene from it. A parameter edit sends a WorkerSceneDelta. The worker applies each changed item to the scene it already has, and the SDF layer updates those nodes in place. Nothing compiles, and the node buffer is not rebuilt.
The GUI thread evaluates every value before the delta leaves, so a delta carries no expression manager, no settings and no payloads. baseStructureVersion names the snapshot that the delta applies to, and the worker drops a delta whose base is not the snapshot it renders. mergeNewer() folds a newer delta of the same base into this one by item id.
